HP AMP 100 Printers - First Time Printer Setup

This document is for HP AMP 100, 120, 125, and 130 printers.

To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer from the box, connect the power cable, install the ink cartridges, load paper into the input tray, download and install the printer software, and then connect the Bluetooth speaker to your mobile device.

The contents might vary by country/region. See the packaging for a list of items shipped in the box.

Remove the printer from the box and the plastic wrap from the printer.

1. Remove the printer from the box.
2. Remove the plastic wrap from the printer.
3. Recycle the packing materials.

Plug the printer into a wall outlet, and then turn on the printer.

note:

Do not connect a USB cable at this time. The connection to the computer is established during software installation.

1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

2. Turn on the printer.

Install the HP ink cartridges that came in the box with your printer.

1. Open the ink cartridge access door.
   The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
3. Remove the new ink cartridge from its package. Be careful to only touch the black plastic on the ink cartridge.
4. Remove the plastic tape from the ink cartridge.

     caution:

   Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Do not replace the protective tape on the contacts. Handling these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

5. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the contacts toward the printer, insert the ink cartridge into its slot, and then gently push the ink cartridge until it snaps into place.

   note:

   Install the color ink cartridge on the left and the black ink cartridge on the right.

6. Repeat these steps for the other ink cartridge.
7. Close the ink cartridge access door.

   The printer starts an initialization process. It is normal for the printer to make noises during this process.

Load plain U.S. letter or A4 paper into the input tray.

1. Raise the input tray and the input tray extender.
   
2. Pull the input tray shield back and hold it, slide the paper width guide all the way to the left, and then release the input tray shield.
   
3. Load up to 60 sheets of plain white paper into the input tray, and then slide the stack of paper down until it stops.
   
4. Pull the input tray shield back and hold it, slide the paper width guide to the right until it stops at the edge of the paper, and then release the input tray shield.
   
5. Pull out the output tray and the output tray extender, and then lift the paper catch.
   

note:

After loading paper, make sure to select the correct paper size and paper type settings when printing or copying.

Your HP printer hardware is now set up and you can install the printing software. Do not attempt to connect the printer to a computer until instructed to do so in the printing software.

note:

For print quality purposes, the printer prints an alignment page after the first five pages are printed. Follow the instructions on the alignment page to complete the ink cartridge alignment.
