HP Commercial Notebook PCs - How to Configure HP QuickWeb

This document provides information needed to configure HP QuickWeb Software.
  note:
The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.
Details
Prerequisites: A FAT32 Partition called HP_TOOLS should exist on the notebook before installing this software or this software will try to create the partition only if sufficient free space is available in Vista and Windows 7. For Windows XP, partition need to be created while partitioning Hard Drive during OS Installation.
Details:
  • Partition type: FAT32
  • Partition size: 1GB
  • Volume name: HP_TOOLS
      note:
    Not hp_tool.
Please go through the following steps to create HP_TOOLS partition using Disk Management console as illustrated below:
Disk Management Window (before creating the drive).
Shrink the drive and then from unallocated space, create the drive with specific details.
  note:
Shrink option is available in Windows Vista and Windows 7 Operating Systems.
FAT32 partition created with volume label HP_TOOLS.
The new drive letter appears under "My Computer" window.
Now, download and install HP QuickWeb Software (sp49155.exe).
Click here to download the HP QuickWeb Software at ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49001-49500/sp49155.exe.

Installation process:
After installation the QuickWeb folder and WWAN Folder will appear under HP_TOOLS Drive as shown in the illustration below:
HP_TOOLS:
After the installation is complete, shut down the Notebook PC.
Connect the Ethernet (LAN) cable to the network port on the Notebook PC. Now press the QuickWeb button, which will launch the Web Browser (by default HP Home Page is displayed).
  note:
HP QuickWeb also supports internet via WWAN and WLAN as well.

Proxy Settings (if any) can also be configured in the web browser just like in normal Internet Explorer.
