HP Notebook PCs - POST Displays Memory Count as 3GB After Upgrading Notebook Memory to 4GB

DESCRIPTION
After upgrading the notebook memory to 4GB, a confirmation message displays the memory count during POST as 3GB.

SCOPE
The specific notebook PCs affected by this issue are listed in the Hardware Platforms Affected section at the bottom of this advisory.
RESOLUTION
The message displayed during POST is incorrect. Please press F1 to confirm/accept the message. The notebook PC recognizes the 4GB of RAM. This can be validated in the BIOS settings.
  1. Restart or power on the notebook PC.
  2. Press F10 when the HP logo displays.
  3. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select System Information and then press Enter.
  4. Verify the Memory Size. (Results will be in MB, 1GB=1024MB, 2GB=2048MB, 3GB=3072MB and 4GB=4096MB).

Operating systems affected : Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
