HP FutureSmart - Disable network protocols and features not in use (EWS)

Learn how to disable unused network protocols and features using the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Note:

The steps in this document provide instructions on how to access the EWS for an HP LaserJet Enterprise or HP PageWide Enterprise printer running HP FutureSmart firmware. HP DesignJet XL and HP PageWide XL printers can use this information as a guide but the EWS images and navigation will vary.

Applicable printers

This document applies to HP Enterprise and HP Managed printers running HP FutureSmart firmware.

Turn off or disable settings

To turn off or disable network settings in the EWS, follow these steps.

  1. Open the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS).

    1. Open a web browser and, in the address bar, type the IP address or host name and then press Enter.

    2. If prompted that the connection is not private or that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue or proceed to the website. Accessing this website will not harm the computer.

  2. Log in as an administrator.

  3. Select the Networking tab.

  4. Select Other Settings from the left pane.

  5. Clear any checkboxes for any settings or features you wish to disable.

    Note:

    Make sure any enabled features that you want to disable are not required for solutions in the networking environment. Disabling these required features might cause disruptions to the network or solutions features, etc.

  6. Click Apply to save the changes.
