HP Deskjet Printers - Replacing the Ink Cartridges

The video shows the HP Deskjet 3000. The outside of the product might not look the same as your product, but the steps are the same.

1. If the product is not already on, press the Power button () to turn it on.
2. Lift the paper tray.

3. Lower the output tray, and then pull the tray extender out.

4. Slide the paper width guide to its outermost position.

5. Load unused, plain white, U.S. letter or A4 size paper in the tray with the short edge forward and the print side up.

6. Slide the paper width guide to the right until it stops at the edge of the paper but does not bend the paper.

1. If the product is not already on, press the Power button () to turn it on.
2. Open the ink cartridge door, and then wait for the carriage to move to the center of the product.

3. Press down lightly on the ink cartridge that you want to replace to release it, and then pull it toward you out of its slot.

4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its package.

5. Use the pink pull tab to remove the plastic protective tape from the new ink cartridge.

     إنذار:

   Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections. Also, do not re-tape the cartridges. Doing so can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

6. Slide the new cartridge into its slot until it snaps firmly into place.

   • The tri-color ink cartridge () goes in the slot on the left
   • The black ink cartridge () goes in the slot on the right
7. Repeat these steps to replace the other ink cartridge, if necessary.
8. Close the ink cartridge door.

1. Open the printer software.
   • Windows 8:
     If you are not using the latest version of Windows 8, the information in these steps might not match. You can get the latest version from the Microsoft Store.

     1. Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, and then click Search.
     2. Type HP in the search box.
     3. Click your printer (). The printer software opens.

     You can also open the printer software from your computer desktop: double-click the icon for your printer ().

   • Windows 7 or Windows Vista:
     Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your printer, and then click the icon for your printer (). The printer software opens.

   • Windows XP:
     Click Start (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your printer, and then click the icon for your printer (). The printer software opens.

2. Double-click Printer Actions, and then double-click Maintenance Tasks. The HP Toolbox opens.
3. Click the Device Services tab, and then click Align Ink Cartridges. The printer aligns the cartridges and then prints an alignment page.
