HP EliteBook 8500, 8700 Mobile and HP Z Series Workstation series - VMware Virtual Machine error

To resolve the error message This Virtual Machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating system. However, 64-bit operation is not possible, use the following procedure. This message might be displayed when you try to boot a Virtual Machine either with BIOS default settings or after a system board replacement.

Enable Virtualization Technology feature in BIOS

Use the following steps to enable the Virtualization Technology option to resolve the error.

  1. Press the power button to turn off the workstation.

  2. Press the power button again to turn on the workstation, and then repeatedly press the esc key to enter the Startup Menu.

  3. From the Startup Menu, press the f10 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

  4. Select System Configuration, and then select Device Configuration.

  5. Select the Virtualization Technology box.

  6. Click OK.

  7. When prompted, click Save changes and exit BIOS.
