HP PCs - Using a Pen with Windows Ink Workspace (Windows 10)

Use Sticky Notes to create lists, note appointments, or remember phone numbers, with the ability to create Cortana reminders that automatically sync with your other Cortana-enabled devices.

The Sticky Note app includes a searchable list of all your sticky notes. Move your sticky note anywhere on the desktop, and then close the list window. You can return to the list window by clicking the More icon , and then selecting Notes list.

To create a Sticky Note, click Sticky Notes in the Windows Ink Workspace. The Sticky Notes window and a new sticky note open. Type or write your information in the note. To delete a sticky note, click the More icon on the note, and then click Delete to confirm.

To create Cortana reminders from sticky notes, turn on Enable insights. In a sticky note, click the More icon , select Notes list, and then click Enable insights. Click a highlighted time or date to add a reminder.

Sticky Notes is also a standalone app that you can launch from the Start menu.

Sketchpad is a space where you can jot notes, doodle, and create. It also comes with a ruler so you can draw straight lines.

To use Sketchpad, click Sketchpad in the Windows Ink Workspace. Use any of the following features with Sketchpad.

• Pen, Pencil, Highlighter: Click the pen , pencil , or highlighter icon, and then click the down arrow to choose your color and line size.
  

• Eraser: Click the eraser icon , and then click the down arrow to choose an eraser option.
  

• Ruler or Protractor: Click the Ruler icon , and then click the down arrow to choose the ruler type. To turn off the Ruler tool, click the ruler type again.
  
  

When you close Sketchpad, the app saves your current drawing so you can pick up in the same place next time.

Snip & Sketch lets you draw on the screen so you can collaborate on documents or images as you would with pen and paper.

With the document, webpage, or image you want to sketch on open on the desktop, click Snip & Sketch in the Windows Ink Workspace. A screen capture of your desktop displays.

Use the controls in the upper-right corner to draw, crop, and mark up the image as you would with pen and paper. When you complete your edits, click Save to save your work or click Share to share your work with others.

Save: Click the Save icon to save your work.

Share: Click the Share icon to share your work with others.

On the Pen & Windows Settings window, you can adjust your pen shortcuts and change Windows Ink Workspace settings. You can also choose to ignore touch input when using the pen to avoid accidental marks or selections.

1. In Windows, search for and open Pen settings.
2. Choose Pen settings in the Pen area.
   • Choose which hand you write with
   • Show visual effects
   • Show the cursor
   • Use pen as mouse when available
   • Ignore touch input when using pen
     
3. Choose handwriting settings in the Handwriting area.
   • Handwriting font size
   • Handwriting font type
   • Handwriting mode
   • Enable touch writing without a pen
   • Improve handwriting recognition
   
4. Scroll down to choose your Windows Ink Workspace settings from the following options:
   • Show recommended app suggestions
   • Select pen behavior when you click once
   • Select pen behavior when you double-click
   • Select pen behavior when you press and hold (only supported on some pens)
   • Allow apps to override the shortcut button behavior
     

The Windows 10 Find my device feature logs the location of your devices. If you lose your pen, you can use Find my device to locate it.

1. In Windows, search for and open Find my device.
2. In the Where's my pen? area, click Go here to track it.
   Windows displays the location of your pen last time the location was saved.

   note:

   When you click Go here to track it, Windows 10 automatically begins a new search for your pen. If the correct location does not immediately display, check the location again later.
