HP Chromebook 11 G1 and G2 Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Power On or Battery Has Little to No Charge

DESCRIPTION
The computer may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms:
  • The computer does not power on out of the box.
  • The battery has little to no charge.
  • The computer does not respond when the power button is pressed.
  • The power LEDs do not power on when the charger is connected.
note:
The restart option may not be displayed in the Start menu.

SCOPE
Information in this document applies to the following:
Computers:
  • HP Chromebook 11 G1
  • HP Chromebook 11 G2
RESOLUTION
The computer needs to be charged. To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:
  1. Connect the computer to an AC adapter, and plug the AC adapter into the wall.
  2. Wait thirty (30) seconds for the LED light to turn green, then amber.
  3. Press the power button.
  4. Leave the computer connected to the AC adapter until the battery is completely charged.
note:
If the computer's battery is completely drained and the LED does not turn on, the computer may need to be charged overnight.
If the computer does not respond when the power button is pressed or the power LEDs do not power on, the computer needs to be completely restarted. To properly restart the computer, complete the following steps:
  1. Connect the computer to an AC adapter that is connected to the wall.
  2. Press and hold Refresh+Powerbutton until the computer displays the Chrome logo.

If the power LED does not power on when the AC adapter is connected OR the power LED powers off while the computer is charging, then the charger protect circuitry may have been engaged. To resolve this issue, complete the following procedure:
  1. Disconnect the adapter
  2. Wait 5 minutes
  3. Reconnect adapter
If the power LED still does not power, then the battery could be completely drained. Leave the computer connected to the AC adapter until the battery is completely charged.
