Advisory: HP Z220 Workstation - No Boot Option for Network Controller with UEFI Only

DESCRIPTION
An HP Z220 workstation, as described in the SCOPE section, would not boot to network when the PXE Option ROMS is set to UEFI Only in F10 Setup.
Symptoms:
  • No boot option for the network controller in Boot Order in F10 Setup.
  • No boot option for the network controller in either UEFI or Legacy mode when pressing F9 key during POST.
  • System would not attempt to network boot when pressing F12 key during POST.

SCOPE
Information in this document applies to the following:
Systems:
  • HP Z220 Convertible Minitower Workstation: System BIOS version 1.54
  • HP Z220 Small Form Factor Workstation: System BIOS version 1.54
Operating Systems:
  • Non-OS Specific
RESOLUTION
To workaround this issue, apply Defaults in F10 Setup as follows:
1. Start or restart the computer.
2. Press the F10 key when the F10=Setup message appears on screen.
3. Select File > Apply Defaults and Exit.
4. Press the Enter key. The system will reboot automatically.
5. Press the F10 key when the F10=Setup message appears on screen.
6. Select Advanced > Device Options > PXE Option ROMS > EFI.
7. Press the F10 key to accept the change.
8. Select File > Save Changes and Exit.
9. Press the Enter key.
10. Press the Enter key to save the changes and exit the F10 Setup utility.
NOTE: Clearing CMOS will workaround this issue as well.
