HP Pro 3340 Microtower PC - Removing and Replacing the Side Cover

Introduction
This document applies to the HP Pro 3340 Microtower PC.
Before you begin
  • A screwdriver is required for this procedure.
  • Turn off the computer, and then disconnect all cables. Disconnect the Ethernet or modem cable before disconnecting the power cord.
  • Move the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.
  • Do not remove a component from its protective packaging until you are ready to install it.
  warning:
The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer.
  caution:
This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.

Removing the side cover
Perform the following to remove the side cover:

Remove any CD or DVDs from the optical drive and then detach all cables that connect to the computer.
  caution:
Review the following safety considerations before performing the following steps. Failure to comply with these safety considerations could result in damage to the product.
Step 1
Loosen the captive thumb screw that secures the panel to the computer.
Loosen the capitve thumb screw.
Step 2
Grasp the handle on the panel and pull towards the rear of the computer.
Release the side panel.
Step 3
Lift the panel off the computer.
Remove the side panel.
Replacing the side cover
Perform the following to replace the side cover:
Step 1
The access panel has several tabs on its top, bottom, and leading edges.
The tabs on the panel fit into slots and over the front lip of the computer.
Align the tabs on the panel over the corresponding slots on the computer.
Replace the side panel.
Step 2
Slide the panel forward to lock it into position.
Slide the side panel forward.
Step 3
Tighten the captured thumb screw to secure the panel to the PC.
Tighten the capturive thumb screw.
