HP Compaq 6200 Pro Small Form Factor PC - Removing and Replacing the Memory

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the memory for the HP Compaq 6200 Pro Small Form Factor PC.
Minimum skill level
The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the memory that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

The chassis and internal components of this computer are similar to the HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor (SFF) Business PC and the HP Z210 Small Form Factor (SFF) Workstation. Removal and replacement procedures are the same. The above mentioned video link shows removal and replacement procedures for HP Z210 SFF Workstation.
Memory removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Pull up and hold the access panel release latch.
  3. Rotate the panel up and lift it away from the chassis.
  4. Rotate the drive cage to the up position.
  5. Push down and out on the memory socket latches to release the memory module.
  6. Pull the memory module up and out of the socket.
Memory replacement
  1. Ensure that the memory socket latches are pushed down and away from the memory socket.
  2. Match the notch on the memory module with the key on the memory socket.
  3. Push the module down firmly into the socket until the latches snap into place and the module is fully seated.
  4. Rotate the drive cage to the down position.
  5. Slide the lip on the front end of the access panel under the lip on the front chassis guide rail.
  6. Lower the back end of the panel until it contacts the chassis.
  7. Press down on the access panel until it locks into place.
