HP Deskjet F735 All-in-One - Horizontal Streaks or Lines in the Printed Image

Issue
The product is working, but the printout shows streaks or lines. The lines run perpendicular to the direction of paper movement through the product and parallel to the movement of the cartridges during printing.
Figure : Streaks or lines, with the direction the paper moved through the product indicated by the arrow
Solution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Step one: Let the All-in-One rest for 30 minutes
Let the product rest for 30 minutes, and then try the print job again.
Step two: Check ink levels and replace low or empty cartridges
Follow these steps to check the ink levels, and then replace low or empty cartridges.
  note:
Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, keep a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. Ink cartridges do not need to be replaced until print quality becomes unacceptable.
  1. Open HP Solution Center.
    • Windows XP: On the Windows taskbar, click Start, click All Programs, point to HP, and then click HP Solution Center.
    • Windows Vista: On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center.
  2. Click Settings, and then click Printer Toolbox.
  3. Click the Device Services tab, and then click the Estimated Ink Levels tab.

      note:
A cartridge might be running out of ink even if the graphic shows that ink remains in the cartridge. Lines or streaks appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace ink cartridges that are out of or low on ink.
Replace low or empty cartridges
If one of the cartridges is low on ink, follow these steps to replace the low or empty cartridge.
  1. Press the Power button () to turn the product on, if it is not already on.
      caution:
If the product is off when the ink-cartridge door is opened, the product will not release the cartridges.
  2. Open the ink-cartridge door. The carriage moves to the far-right side of the product. If the carriage does not move to the right side, turn the product off, and then turn it back on.

    Figure : The diagnostic page
The product can print with different combinations of ink cartridges. Different cartridge combinations print different diagnostic page patterns. Identify which cartridge printed which part of the diagnostic page to determine the faulty cartridge.
Figure : Layout of the extended self-test report
  1. Printed by the left (color) cartridge
  2. Printed by the right (black) cartridge
If the product and ink cartridges are working correctly, few or no lines are missing from the grid-like patterns on the diagnostic page. None of the colors should be missing. Also, there should be no streaks of ink on the page.
Missing lines or streaked bars
Color bars will often streak if ink levels are low. If a pattern shows more than a few missing lines, or there are streaks on the bar, the corresponding ink cartridge is not functioning correctly.

If the diagnostic page shows missing lines or streaked bars, click here to continue troubleshooting (c01480470) (in English).
Missing colors
If any of the color patterns or bars are missing completely, the cartridge is not functioning correctly.
  note:
If the product is printing in reserve mode, without all the cartridges installed, the patterns associated with the missing cartridge will also be missing.
