Removing the Heat Sink

  1. Prepare the notebook for disassembly:
    1. Shut down the notebook. If it is not sure whether the notebook is off or in hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the notebook.
    3. Disconnect the power cord.
  2. Remove the following components:
  3. Remove the four Torx T8M2.5×7.0 screws that secure the heat sink to the notebook.
  4. Lift the right side of the heat sink to disengage it from the processor.
  5. Slide the heat sink up and to the right to remove it.
  note:
Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal paste located between the heat sink and processor, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach the heat sink from the processor.

  note:
The thermal paste should be thoroughly cleaned from the surfaces of the heat sink and processor each time the heat sink is removed. Thermal paste should be reapplied to both surfaces before the heat sink is reinstalled. Thermal paste is included with all heat sink and processor spare part kits.

Reverse the above procedure to install the heat sink.

  1. Prepare the notebook for disassembly:
    1. Shut down the notebook. If it is not sure whether the notebook is off or in hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
    2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the notebook.
    3. Disconnect the power cord.
  2. Remove the following components:
  3. Slide the tip of the processor socket release arm toward the display until it clears the notch on the processor socket.
  4. Swing the processor socket release arm to the left as far as it will go.
  5. Lift the processor straight up and remove it .
  note:
The gold triangle on the processor should be aligned in the front right corner when installing the processor.

Reverse the above procedure to install the processor.
