HP Officejet 9100 All-in-One Series - Mac OS X: Setup Assistant Does Not Detect the Printer via TCP/IP
Issue:
After installation, the HP all-in-one Setup Assistant does not detect the printer via TCP/IP.
note:
The Setup assistant will find the printer and display it in the Network Devices list; however, when the printer is selected, the message "no device selected" is displayed in the selected printer window.Figure : Selecting devices![]()
Workaround
Use the following steps as a workaround:
note:
Setup Assistant must still be running in order for the following steps to work.
-
Open Process Viewer, which is located in the Hard Drive, Applications, Utilities, Process Viewer folder.
-
Click Name Column to sort items alphabetically.
-
Locate HP Communications and click it once to highlight it.
-
From the Processes drop-down menu, select Quit Process.
-
A prompt will appear asking you to confirm that you want to quit that process. Click Yes.
-
Close Process Viewer.
-
Back in the hard drive go to Applications, Hewlett-Packard, Utilities.
-
Double-click HP Re-Setup Utility.
-
Go through the setup again, this time when the printer is selected in the Network Devices list, it should also appear in the selected printer window.
