HP LaserJet MFP M139-M142 printers - First time printer setup

Remove the printer from the box, and then remove all tape, stickers, and packing materials.

1. Remove the printer and power cord from the box.

2. Remove all packing tape from the outside of the printer.

   

3. Open the toner access door, and then remove the packing tape and foam from inside the printer.

   

4. Remove the cartridge, and then remove the orange clips from the cartridge.

   

5. Grasp the cartridge by its sides, and then rock the cartridge side to side five or six times to evenly distribute the toner.

   CAUTION:

   Do not touch the imaging drum surface. Fingerprints can cause print quality problems.

   
   

6. Bend the orange tab until it snaps, and then pull to remove the sealing tape from the cartridge.

   

7. Align the cartridge with the tracks inside the printer, push in until firmly seated, and then close the toner access door.

   

8. Recycle all packing material.

Connect the power cord, and then turn on the printer.

1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then the other end into a power outlet.

   Note:

   Do not connect the USB cable at this time.

   

2. Press the Power button on the printer.

   

Load plain U.S. letter or A4 paper in the input tray.

1. Load plain white paper into the input tray with the short edge forward and the print side up.

   

2. Slide in the paper width guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.

   

3. Pull out the output tray extension.
