HP LaserJet Enterprise Printers - 10.99.xx Event log codes for Supply messages

Issue

The printer displays supply messages when a non-HP, unknown, unsupported, or "used" supply is in the printer and logs a numerical error code in the Event Log.
<Supply> = Toner cartridge or Image Drum color (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)
  • 10.99.31 (Event Log): Control Panel Message - Non-HP supply in use
The printer displays this message when a used supply (a remanufactured or re-filled genuine HP or non-HP product) has been installed.
  • 10.99.34 (Event Log): Control Panel Message - Used supply in use
The printer displays this message when a used supply (a remanufactured or re-filled genuine HP or non-HP product) has been installed.
  • 10.99.40 (Event Log): Control Panel Message - Genuine HP supplies installed
The printer displays this message when it detects the transition from a non-HP supply to a HP genuine supply installed in the printer.
    note:
When a genuine HP supply with a "Very Low" status in the printer is removed and re-installed in a different or same printer (for testing or to shake the toner to address print quality issues), it is interpreted as a counterfeit or re-filled supply, and will cause a 10.99.40 event code when a new genuine supply is installed.
  • 10.99.41 (Event Log): Control Panel Message - Unsupported Supply in use
The printer displays this message when the supply is for a different product.

Solution

If the supply is not for use in the printer, replace the supply.
note:
To ensure that you purchased a genuine HP supply, go to www.hp.com/go/anticounterfeit.
If you still want to use the supply installed, touch OK to continue.

HP policy on non-HP supplies

HP cannot recommend the use of non-HP toner cartridges or supplies, either new or remanufactured.
note:
For HP printers, the use of a non-HP toner cartridge or a re-filled toner cartridge does not affect either the warranty to the customer or any HP support contract with the customer. However, if printer failure or damage is attributable to the use of a non-HP toner cartridge, re-filled toner cartridge or supply, HP will charge its standard time and materials charges to service the printer for the particular failure or damage.
