HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 Tablet - Unable to Connect to VPN Over Broadband WWAN Connection

This document pertains to the HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 tablet using Windows 7 64-bit SP1.
The customer is unable to connect to the VPN over the WWAN broadband connection.
Broadband WWAN connection must be manually disconnected, and then reconnected before the VPN connects.
Follow these steps to connect and disconnect the WWAN, and then add the VPN to the list of connections.

Manually connect or disconnect the WWAN

Follow these steps to manually connect or disconnect the WWAN.
  1. Click Start , and then type HP Connection Manager.
  2. Select HP Connection Manager from the list of results.
  3. Click the power icon next to WWAN on the main screen.

Enable WWAN to automatically connect or disconnect

Follow these steps to enable WWAN to automatically connect or disconnect when HP Connection Manager is launched and closed.
  1. Click Start , and then type HP Connection Manager.
  2. From the list of results, select HP Connection Manager.
  3. Click Preferences, and then click Device Power.
  4. Under the Power on and Power off sections, check the box next to Wi-Fi as desired.

  5. Click OK.

Change the preferences for the VPN to include the executable

Use the HP Connection Manager to initiate the broadband WWAN connection. In the settings configuration for HP Connection Manager, change the preferences for the VPN to include the executable.
  1. Click Start , and then type HP Connection Manager.
  2. From the list of results, select HP Connection Manager.
  3. Click Preferences, and then click VPN.
  4. Select the Other radio button, and then click the button to navigate to the VPN executable.

  5. Check Automatically launch VPN on establishing Mobile Broadband connection.
    note:
    This step might not apply to all solutions to this issue.
  6. In the upper-right corner, click the X to return to the main screen.
  7. Click the power button next to your WWAN connection.
  8. Click OK, to exit the HP Connection Manager when finished.
