HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor PC - Removing and Replacing the Media Card Reader

This document pertains only to HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor PC with the following case design:

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the media card reader for the HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor PC.

Minimum skill level

The end user requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The end user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

Media card reader removal instructions

Remove the access panel.

Remove the optical drive.
3
Disconnect the media card reader cable from the system board.
4
Press the green drive release button and slide the media card reader back until it stops.
5
Lift the media card reader up and out of the drive cage.
note:
If the replacement media card reader does not include guide screws, remove and reuse the screws from this drive or use the spare screws provided on the front of the chassis.

Align guide screws on the media card reader with the J-slots in the drive bay and push it down into the drive bay.

Press the green drive release button and slide the media card reader forward until it locks into place.

Connect the media card reader cable to the system board.

Replace the optical drive.

Replace the access panel.
