HP LaserJet M5025/M5035MFP Series - Copy/ Email and Fax Icon Grayed Out and Message"Secure Hard Disk Disable" is Displayed on the Control Panel

Issue
This error occurs when installing or replacing the hard drive part numbers: J8018A and J8019A from the HP LaserJet M5035MFP. After installing or replacing the hard disk and if it is an encrypted hard drive the product will not start properly and will display the message Secure hard disk disable on the control panel. In addition, the copy/email and fax icons on the control panel will be grayed out.
Solution
In this scenario, the hardware procedure to initialize the hard disk will not work. It will be necessary to initialize the hard disk from the embedded web server (EWS). The follow instructions detail how to initialize the hard disk from the embedded web server (EWS).
  1. Open an internet web browser.
  2. Type the printer IP address of the product in the browser address line.
  3. Press the<enter> key to open the EWS.
  4. From within the EWS click on <Settings>.
  5. Click on <Security>.
  6. Under Perform Secure Storage Erase and HP Secure Hard Disk Configuration click on Reinitialize hard drive as shown in Figure 1 below.
  7. The embedded web server (EWS) will display the message wait for device to reboot as shown in the Figure 2 below.
  8. After the product reboots it will recover from the failure. The hard drive will work properly and the Copy/ Email and Fax Icons will now be available for use.
