Introduction

This document contains steps for loading paper and for changing the print settings to print from Tray 2. To print documents from Tray 2, you must change the print setting to Tray 2. Paper does not automatically pull from Tray 2 when your product is set to the auto (tray) select option.

note:

Tray 2 supports plain paper only. For other paper types, use the main tray.

Printing from Tray 2 in Windows

Follow these steps to load paper and change the print settings to print from Tray 2.

Step one: Load paper

Follow these steps to load paper in Tray 2.

Grasp the underside of Tray 2, and then pull the tray out.

Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.
Insert a stack of plain, white paper print-side down in the center of the tray. Make sure the paper aligns with the engraved lines in the tray.

note:

Load only plain white paper in Tray 2.
Adjust the paper width guides so that they rest against the edges of the paper.

Carefully reinsert the tray into the product.

Step two: Change the print settings to print from Tray 2

Choose your operating system, and then follow the steps to change the print settings to print from Tray 2.

Microsoft Windows XP

On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then select Printers and Faxes.
Right-click your product, and then select Printing Preferences.
From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality.
From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.
From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.
Click Apply, and then OK to confirm your selections.

note:

After you set the default print drive to Tray 2, follow the same steps to switch the default print drive back to Tray 1.

Microsoft Windows Vista

On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Control Panel. The Windows Control Panel opens.
Under Hardware and Sound, click Printer.
Right-click your product, and then select Printing Preferences.
From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality.
From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.
From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.
Click Apply, and then OK to confirm your selections.

note:

After you set the default print drive to Tray 2, follow the same steps to switch the default print drive back to Tray 1.

Microsoft Windows 7

On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Devices and Printers.
Right-click your product, and then select Printing Preferences.
From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality.
From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2.
From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.
Click Apply, and then OK to confirm your selections.

note:

After you set the default print drive to Tray 2, follow the same steps to switch the default print drive back to Tray 1.
