Setting Up the Printer Hardware for HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175a and M175nw Printer Series

This document includes the following steps to set up the product:
  • Check the contents of the box
  • Remove the packaging and prepare the trays
  • Load paper
  • Adjust the control panel display
  • Connect the power cord and turn on the power
  • Select the language and location

Setting up the product

Follow these steps in order.
note:
Do not connect a USB cable now. If you plan to use a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer, you will be prompted to connect it at the correct time during the software installation.

Step one: Check the contents of the box

The contents might vary by country/region. See the packaging for a list of items shipped in the box.

Step two: Remove the packaging and prepare the trays

Follow these steps to remove the packaging and prepare the trays.
  1. Put the product in a sturdy, well-ventilated, dust-free place.
  2. Remove the packing tape and protective film from outside the product.

  3. Open the scanner assembly. The scanner assembly consists of the scanner lid and scanner bed.

  4. Open the print cartridge door.

  5. Pull out the two orange packing clips on either side of the blue packing.

  6. Pull the orange tab to remove the blue plastic packing.

  7. Remove the instruction sheet, if one is in the product.

  8. Close the print cartridge door, and then open the output tray and flip up the output tray extender.

  9. Close the scanner assembly, and then pull out the input tray.

  10. Remove the input tray from its packaging, and then flip the tray.

  11. Insert the input tray into the product. Make sure that it snaps into place.

  12. Recycle the packing materials.

Step three: Load paper

  1. Slide the paper width and length guides to their outermost positions. To slide out the paper width guides, use the grey tab on the right-hand guide.
  2. Load the paper in the input tray, print side up. Slide the paper forward until it stops.
    note:
    Do not overload the tray. Make sure that the stack of paper fits within the tray and is no higher than the top of the guides.

  3. Slide the paper width and length guides inward until they stop at the edges of the paper.

Step four: Adjust the control panel display

Squeeze the latch behind the control panel display. Gently lift the display into the preferred position, and then release the latch. Make sure that the display clicks into place.

Step five: Connect the power cord and turn on the power

  1. Connect the power cord to the back of the product.

  2. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  3. Press the Power button () to turn on the product. The product initializes and calibrates itself. Wait until the product is idle and silent before proceeding. Do not connect the USB cable yet.

Step six: Select language and location

Follow these steps to select the language and location on the product control panel.

  1. On the control panel, press the Right Arrow button () to select the preferred language, and then press OK.
    note:
    If you select the wrong language, press the Right Arrow button () to select No, and then press OK.
  2. Press OK again to confirm the selection.
  3. Press the Right Arrow button () to select the location, and then press OK.
  4. Press OK again to confirm the selection.
    The product calibrates itself. Wait until the control panel displays 'Ready' before proceeding.
