HP Flat Panel LCD Monitors - Pressing the Volume Up Button Does Not Raise the Volume

This document pertains to HP flat panel LCD monitors that have a volume icon over the front panel button labeled with a minus sign (-).
When pressing the button on the front panel with a plus sign (+), thought of as "raise volume", the volume indicator does not open on the screen and volume is not raised.
To properly raise the volume, you must first press the front panel button labeled with a minus sign (the minus button) to open the volume indicator. Then, after the indicator is shown, you can press the plus button to raise the volume levels.

If the volume indicator appears on the screen, and you cannot visably see the indicator move when the plus button is pressed (and the bar is lowered, to the left), then the plus button may be broken and the monitor requires service.
If the volume indicator raises and lowers when plus and minus buttons are pressed, but no sound can be heard from the monitor, then see Troubleshooting Sound Problems with Monitor Speakers.
