HP Scanjet 8270 Scanner - Scan From the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)

Introduction

Choose acceptable media, load originals, and scan one-sided or two-sided documents using the automatic document feeder (ADF).

Scanning from the ADF

Choosing acceptable media

The ADF works best when the originals meet the following specifications. If the originals do not meet these criteria, scan from the scanner glass.
  • A4-, letter-, or legal-size paper.
  • Custom-size paper ranging from 88.9 x 127 mm (3.5 x 5.0 inches) to 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 inches).
  • Media weights from 60 to 90 (g/m2) (16 to 24 pounds).
  • Media that is square- or rectangular-shaped and is in good condition.
  • Media that is free of perforations or punch holes.
  • Media that does not contain wet glue, correction fluid, or ink.
note:
Avoid putting photos, multi-part forms, transparencies, magazine pages, gum-backed pages, and lightweight paper in the ADF.

Placing the originals in the ADF

Before placing an original in the ADF, check for and remove curls, wrinkles, staples, paper clips, and any other attached material. Make sure that sheets are not stuck together.
  1. Place a stack of similarly sized pages face-up in the input tray of the ADF, with the first page on top. The top of the page should point towards the document feeder.

    1. Click Start.
    2. Click Programs.
    3. Click HP.
    4. Click HP Solution Center.
