System error "ffff ffff 028xxxxx" or "0f0100 0000xxxx" occurs when attempting to print via a network connection through the HP Jetdirect 610n print server interface card. Follow the steps provided below to resolve the issue.
-
Turn the printer off and unplug the power cable.
-
Remove the data cable plugged into the Jetdirect card.
-
Unscrew and remove the Jetdirect EIO card from the EIO slot located on the back of the printer.
-
Gently re-install the Jetdirect card back into the printer.
-
Tighten screws until they are finger tight (do not over tighten).
-
Plug the data cable back into the Jetdirect card.
-
Plug the power cable back into the printer and turn the printer on.
-
Following printer initialization, send a print file through the network to the printer.
-
If the file prints without error the problem has been solved. Continue with the remaining steps if the error re-occurs.
-
Ensure the PS Encoding setting is set to Software, not Binary or ASCII. The PS Encoding setting is located in the Printer Menu, Internal RIP Settings, and PS Encoding.
-
Attempt to verify functionality by sending the printer a file through the network. Continue with the remaining steps if error re-occurs.
-
Verify the Jetdirect 610n firmware version is L.20.24 or higher. The current firmware version can be checked through the printers front panel, Printer Setup menu, I/O Setup, Card ID, then FW REV = L.XX.XX.
-
If the firmware is lower than L.20.24, upgrade the Jetdirect firmware. Click here to access detailed information on how to Update Jetdirect firmware.
-
Following the firmware upgrade, attempt to verify printer functionality by sending a file through the network to the printer.
note:
The error can be caused by an older version of firmware but may also have other causes. If the HP Jetdirect device's firmware is up-to-date or if the error persists after the upgrade, continue troubleshooting as an I/O communication error.
