HP Designjet 700 Series Printers - How to Adjust the Margins (Roll Media only)

Besides nesting and setting the page size, you can also change the margin settings and expand the plotting area of the page, therefore reducing the amount of media waste. The two side margins are 5.0mm. The automatic setting of the plotter’s margins is 17mm on the leading and trailing edges of the media. By reducing the margins to 10mm on the leading and trailing edges of the media, you can use 14mm more plotting area along that axis. The adjustment is available in the front panel.
  note:
When Margins is set to Smaller, the plotter waits for the plot to dry and the next plot to begin plotting before cutting the plot from the roll. If you press Form Feed and Cut, the plotter immediately cuts off the current plot. When the next plot begins, the plotter cuts again to give this plot the narrow margin.
Setup the Margins
For setting up margins, do the following:
Plotter is switched on and the Display shows the following message:
Ready
OR
Ready for Media
Press the ENTER key. The Display shows the following message:
Queuing and Nesting
Press the up arrow key until the next Display message is shown:

By pressing the ENTER key, you will reach the Page format submenu:
Page Format

While pressing the up arrow key several times, you reach the topic:
Page Margins

At this point, you can see which margin is set to the plotter. In default it is set to ‘Normal’ which means, as mentioned before, that the top and bottom margin is 17mm.
While using this setting, the plot will always be cut after each plot.
The 2nd setting is ‘Smaller’ which means that plot will always be cut after the next plot has begun.
Top and Bottom Margin here is 10mm in width.
If you wish to cut after the plot and not change the margins, you could use the Form Feed and Cut Button.
If you want to change the Setting, do the following:
  1. Follow the guide above until reaching this point
While pressing the up arrow key, you reach the topic:
    Page Margins
    Margins = Normal ->
  2. Then:

Now, the margins are set to ‘Smaller’. To change from ‘Smaller’ to ‘Normal’, follow the steps above and switch to ‘Normal’.
