HP Deskjet 3520 Printers - First Time Printer Setup

This document is for HP Deskjet 3520, 3521, 3522, 3524, 3526 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 3525 e-All-in-One printers.

To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer from the box, take off all the packing materials and tape from the printer, connect the power cable, set your language and country/region preferences, install the ink cartridges, load paper, and then align the cartridges. After the printer is set up, install the printer software.

Remove the printer from the box and all tape, stickers, and packing materials from the printer.

1. Remove the printer from the box, and then remove all tape and packing materials from the outside of the printer.
2. Raise the printer lid, and then remove the packing tape.
   
3. Lower the printer lid.
4. Grasp the handles on either side of the printer, raise the cartridge access door until it locks into place, and then remove the packing tape.
   
5. Close the cartridge access door.
6. Open the paper tray door, pull out the paper tray, and then remove the packing tape.
   
7. Push the paper tray all the way into the printer until it clicks into place.
8. Remove any tape from the rear of the printer.

Plug the printer into a wall outlet, and then turn on the printer.

1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug it into a wall outlet.
   
2. Turn on the printer.
   

Set the default language and country/region for your printer.

1. Touch the Down Arrow to select the language, and then touch OK.
2. Touch the Down Arrow to select Yes, and then touch OK. The Set Country/Region menu opens.
3. Touch the Down Arrow to select the country/region, and then touch OK.
4. Touch the Down Arrow to select Yes, and then touch OK.

Install the SETUP cartridges to calibrate the printer.

  Upozornění:

When you first set up the printer you must install the cartridges that shipped in the box. These cartridges are labeled SETUP, and they calibrate your printer before the first print job. Failure to install the SETUP cartridges during the initial printer setup causes an error.

1. Grasp the handles on either side of the cartridge access door, and then raise the door until it locks into place. The carriage moves to the access area.
2. Remove the protective cap from the carriage, and then discard the cap.
3. Pull the orange tab to remove the plastic wrap from a cartridge.
   
4. Remove the orange cap from the cartridge. Twist the cap counter-clockwise until it snaps off.
   
5. With the nozzle and the contacts facing down, push the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place. Make sure that the color icon on the cartridge label matches the color icon on the slot.
   
6. Repeat these steps to insert the other cartridges.
7. Close the cartridge access door.
8. Continue to the next step to load paper, before you touch OK on the control panel.

Load plain U.S. letter or A4 paper in the input tray.

1. Open the paper tray door.
2. Pull out the paper tray, and then pull out the paper tray extension.
   
3. Slide the paper guides to their outermost positions.
   
4. Load a stack of U.S. letter or A4 size paper into the paper tray with the short edge first and the print side down. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.
   
5. Slide in the paper guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.
   
6. Push the paper tray all the way into the printer until it clicks into place.

   Poznámka:

   Push the paper tray all the way in to avoid an error message.

Align the ink cartridges to achieve the best print quality.

1. On the printer control panel, touch OK. The printer prints an alignment page.

   Poznámka:

   If the alignment page does not print, open the Tools menu, and then select Align Printer.

2. Open the lid.
3. Place the alignment page on the scanner glass with the printed side down, and then position it on the front right corner of the glass.
4. Close the lid, and then touch OK. The printer scans the alignment page.

Your HP printer is now set up and you can install the printer software.
