HP LaserJet MFP M436 - Install hangs at 99 percent and a fatal error occurs when installing the printer software on a network in Windows 7

When installing the full software and drivers for an HP LaserJet MFP M436 in Windows 7, the installation hangs at 99 percent, a fatal error displays, the installation fails, and the printer cannot be found on the network.

This error can occur when running software from the CD that came in the box or from an older file downloaded from HP.com. One or more of the following error messages might display:

• A fatal error occurred preventing product use.
• An install operation took too long to execute.

Download and install the latest Full Solution Software and Drivers option available from HP.com.
