Introduction
Setting up the printer
Follow these steps in order.
Step one: Check the contents of the box
The contents might vary by country/region. See the packaging for a list of items shipped in the box.
Step two: Unpack the printer

Remove the printer from the plastic covering, and then remove all the packing tape from the front and rear of the printer.

Lower the output tray, open the cartridge access door, and then remove all of the tape and packing material from inside the printer.

Step three: Turn on the power
Important: Your printer might have a protective plastic sticker that looks like an active printer control panel. Remove the sticker from the control panel before you continue with this step.

Connect the power module cord to the rear of the printer, connect the power cord to the power module, and then connect the other end of the power cord to the electrical outlet.Abbildung : Connect the power module and power cord

Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue to the next step.
Step four: Select the language and country/region
The first time you turn on the printer, it prompts you to select your language and region. Follow these steps to set the default language and country/region for your printer.

On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow (
) until the desired language is highlighted, and then press OK.

Select Yes, and then press OK to confirm your choice.Abbildung : Select the language

Repeat these steps to select the country/region.
Step five: Insert the cartridges

Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves into the access area. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.Abbildung : Open the cartridge access door

Remove the new cartridge from its packaging, and then pull the pull tab to remove the plastic tape.Abbildung : Remove the plastic tape

Hold the cartridge at a slight upward angle with the cartridge contacts facing the rear of the printer, and then slide the cartridge into the empty slot.Make sure that the color of the cartridge matches the color on the cartridge latch.

The tri-color cartridge goes in the slot on the left.

The black cartridge goes in the slot on the right.

Push the cartridge forward until it snaps into place.Abbildung : Push the cartridge into place

Repeat these steps to insert the other cartridge.

Close the cartridge access door.The printer prompts you to load paper in the paper tray.Abbildung : Close the cartridge access door
Step six: Load paper and align the cartridges
Follow these steps to load U.S. letter or A4 plain, white paper in the paper tray.

Open the output tray and pull out the tray extender.Abbildung : Open the output tray and pull out the tray extender

Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.Abbildung : Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions

Load a stack of U.S. letter or A4 plain, white paper into the input tray, and then slide the paper width guides in until they rest against the edges of the paper.Abbildung : Load the paper into the tray and adjust the paper width guides

Press OK, and then follow the instructions on the control panel to start the cartridge alignment. The printer aligns the cartridges and prints an alignment page.

Follow the steps on the alignment page to finish aligning the cartridges.
