HP Sprocket Photo Printers - First time printer setup

Unbox the printer, install the HP sprocket app, pair your printer and mobile device, load paper, and then calibrate the printer.

Remove the sprocket from the box

Unbox the sprocket and recycle any packing materials.

  1. Remove the printer from the box.

  2. Remove any plastic packing material from the printer.

  3. Recycle the packing materials.

Pair the sprocket with your mobile device

Install the HP sprocket app on your mobile device to pair your sprocket using a Bluetooth connection. The app is required to print from your mobile device.

  1. Go to the HP Sprocket (in English) homepage, and then follow the instructions to download and install the app.

  2. After the app installs, turn on the printer.

  3. On your mobile device, open the Bluetooth settings menu, and then make sure Bluetooth is enabled.

  4. Open the HP sprocket app.

  5. If a Welcome screen displays, tap the setup option, and then follow the instructions.

    If a prompt displays to Reveal with AR, tap Enable Reveal or No, Thanks.

  6. Tap the Menu icon , tap sprocket, and then tap Manage Printers to view a list of available printers.

    • If your printer displays, the printer is connected.

    • If your printer does not display, tap Add New Printer, and then tap your printer.

Load HP Sprocket Photo Paper

Load 5.0 cm x 7.6 cm (2 in x 3 in) HP Sprocket Photo Paper into the printer.

  1. Turn off the sprocket.

  2. Slide the top cover away from the output slot to remove it.

  3. Load up to 10 sheets of HP Sprocket Photo Paper with the blue Print Quality Card (formerly Smartsheet). Make sure the blue card is on the bottom of the stack with the bar code facing down, and the photo paper with the HP logos facing down.

    Note:

    Keep the blue card until you are done with all 10 sheets, and then discard it.

  4. Align the top cover with the tracks on the outside of the sprocket, and then slide it toward the output slot until it is firmly seated.

  5. Turn on the sprocket.

Calibrate the sprocket

Send a print job with the HP sprocket app to calibrate the printer with the Print Quality Card.

  1. On your mobile device, open the HP sprocket app.

  2. From the home screen, select the photo you want to print.

  3. Tap Edit or the Edit icon to adjust the photo appearance, add text or stickers, and apply filters.

  4. Tap the checkmark icon to save any changes, and then tap the Print icon .

  5. Wait until the sprocket is idle and silent, and then remove the colored card.

  6. After calibration completes, the photo prints.
