HP Smart Tank 500, 600 - Refill the ink tanks

Fill an ink tank when the ink level is low.

1. Open the front door.

   

2. Open the cap on the ink tank you want to refill.

   

3. Open the ink bottle.

   • If your ink bottles have twist-off caps, twist to remove the cap, and then set it aside.

     

   • If your ink bottles have a flip-top cap, twist the cap to remove it. Pull the seal tab to remove the seal, and then dispose of it. Replace and tighten the cap on the bottle, and then flip open the cap.

     

4. Turn the bottle upside down, place it over the tank spout, and then push the bottle down onto the spout.

   If the bottle does not start draining, remove it, and then reinsert it onto the spout. Do not squeeze the bottle.

   

5. After the ink tank is filled, set the bottle upright, and then close or replace the ink bottle cap.

6. Close the ink tank cap.

   

7. Repeat the previous steps to fill any other empty ink tanks.

8. Close the front door.

9. Store bottles with leftover ink upright in a cool, dry place.
