Password authentication fails when using a quotation mark or yen symbol (see Figure 2) in the password. When the password is created with those specific characters, the following error is displayed:
An error occurred: Your password has not been
changed. The password that you entered would
probably not work at the Pre-boot security level. If
Pre-boot security is enabled, you should change your
password now, before you log off, or you may not be
able to log back in during Pre-boot.
To change your password to one that meets Pre-boot
requirements, select a compatible keyboard layout
and then type a new password (0x01FF0003)

When this issue occurs, the user may not be able to sign in with Pre-boot authentication. This occurs on a Japanese image when using a Japanese keyboard.
