DETAILS OF CHANGE
Effective April 2, 2018, HP is changing the BIOS configuration on HP Z workstations that come with Windows 7 and Windows 10. The new software addition and updates are being made available for download from HP’s support Web site for owners of existing Z440, Z640, Z840, Z238, Z240 Tower, Z240 Small Form Factor, and Z2 Mini G3, Z4 G4, Z6 G4, and Z8 G4 series workstations.
HP Z240 series workstations BIOS 1.67 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0xC2 for Intel 6th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v5 product family.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x84 for Intel 7th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v6 product family.
  • Includes enhancement to address CVE-2017-5715. HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
HP Z440, Z640, and Z840 series workstations BIOS 2.41 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x3C for Xeon E5 v3 processors and 0x2A for Xeon E5 v4 processors.
  • Includes enhancement to address CVE-2017-5715. HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
HP Z2 Mini G3 series workstations BIOS 1.67 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0xC2 for Intel 6th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v5 product family.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x84 for Intel 7th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v6 product family.
  • Includes enhancement to address CVE-2017-5715. HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
HP Z4 G4 series workstations BIOS 1.42 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel Reference Code to v149R09.
  • Updates Intel RAID Option ROM/Driver to v5.3.7.1056.
  • Updates Intel Network UEFI Driver to v2.9.05.
  • Updates Intel PXE UEFI Driver to v00.18.
  • Updates UEFI-based Hardware Diagnostics to v1.23.
  • Enables system to accept BIOS Administrator Password at Power-on Password prompt.
  • Adds setting for Administrator to allow bypass of Power-on Password after Restart.
  • Adds setting for Administrator to disable most Physical Presence Interface prompts.
  • Adds support for USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) for systems with HP Z Premium Front I/O panel.
  • Adds support for optional Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) NVMe SSD Premium Controller Module (not supported with Core X processors).
  • Improves thermal control for systems with 750 W Power Supply.
  • Fixes an issue where system would fail to boot after AC power loss or unexpected reset.
  • Fixes an issue where system would fail to boot from certain USB Type-C media.
  • Fixes an issue where system would fail to boot when using certain USB KVM's.
  • Fixes an issue where system would fail to UEFI PXE boot in certain customer environments.
  • Fixes an issue where system with MS UEFI CA key disabled would not boot with certain Device Guard compatible add-in cards.
  • Fixes an issue where system would hang after flashing BIOS with ME disabled.
  • Fixes an issue where system would hang when attempting Network BIOS Update.
  • Fixes an issue where system would hang in F10 menus with certain USB devices installed.
  • Fixes an issue where BIOS could not be updated from optical media.
  • Fixes an issue where certain external USB 3.0 mass storage devices would not function correctly during boot.
  • Fixes an issue where Front USB Type-C ports were still enabled after disabling Front USB ports in F10.
  • Fixes an issue where devices connected to the front USB Type-C ports would not appear as ejectable in the OS.
  • Fixes an issue where Drivelock password could not be used after simultaneously enabling Drivelock password and disabling Automatic Drivelock.
  • Fixes an issue where graphics configuration settings would not be reset when applying Factory Defaults or Custom Defaults.
  • Fixes an issue where Remote Diagnostics would fail to run.
  • Fixes an issue where system would experience yellow bang in Device Manager when booting a Legacy OS with multiple graphics cards present.
  • Fixes multiple issues with PCIe expansion chassis.
  • Fixes an issue where F10 display language change would not be retained.
  • Fixes issue with missing Japanese characters in F10 menus.
HP Z6 G4 and Z8 G4 series workstations BIOS 1.42 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel Reference Code to v149R09.
  • Updates Intel RAID Option ROM/Driver to v5.3.7.1056.
