HP LaserJet Pro MFP - Requirements when configuring Outgoing E-mail Profiles, E-mail Options, and E-mail Address Book fields

Introduction

This document lists the different fields used to configure Scan to E-mail for an HP LaserJet Pro MFP, including Outgoing E-mail Profiles, E-mail Options, and E-mail Address Book fields, and the maximum length and valid input values required for each.

Outgoing E-mail Profiles

The Scan to E-mail feature must have at least one outgoing e-mail profile set up before it can be used. The outgoing e-mail profiles can be setup, edited or deleted via the products Embedded Web Server, or via the Scan to E-mail Wizard software. There can be up to 20 outgoing profiles saved. Following are the valid input values and lengths that are supported for creating an outgoing e-mail profile:

SMTP server	100 maximum	All ASCII values
SMTP port	Integer value from 0-65535	Integer value from 0-65535

SMTP password	50 maximum	All ASCII values
PIN	4 exactly	Integer – Must be 4 digits
PIN confirm	4 exactly	Must match PIN

note:
Valid formats for the SMTP User ID can be entered as follows but it is up to the SMTP server to parse out the domain.

E-mail options

The Embedded Web Server also allows the setup of default e-mail options. The following are valid input values and lengths that are supported for these default options.

E-mail Address Book

The device will have the ability to save up to 50 individual or up to 49 group e-mail entries. Groups cannot be added to groups to prevent circular references. The E-mail Address Book can be edited via the control panel or the Embedded Web Server. Up to 51 destinations (the size of the e-mail address book plus 1) can be selected to send to.
