HP Deskjet, Photosmart 5520 Printers - Loading Paper and Envelopes

This document is for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 and HP Photosmart 5520, 5521, 5522, 5524, and 5525 e-All-in-One printers.

Your printer can print on plain or specialty paper. Load plain paper, photo paper, and envelopes in the printer.

caution:
To avoid printing issues, never load multiple types of paper in the paper tray or attempt to load paper while the printer is printing.

Load plain paper

Load plain paper, such as U.S. letter and A4, into the paper input tray.

Open the paper tray door, and then pull out the paper tray.
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.
Load a stack of plain paper into the tray with the short edge facing toward the product and the print side down. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.
Slide the paper width guides in until they rest against the edges of the paper, and then slide the tray back in until it stops.
Pull open and lift the paper tray extender.

Load photo paper

Load photo paper into the paper input tray.

Open the paper tray door, and then pull out the paper tray.
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.
Load a stack of photo paper into the tray with the short edge facing toward the product and the print side down. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.
Slide the paper width guides in until they rest against the edges of the paper.
Slide the tray back in until it stops, and then pull open and lift the paper tray extender.

Load envelopes

Load envelopes into the paper input tray.

note:
Do not use shiny or embossed envelopes or envelopes that have clasps or windows.

Open the paper tray door, and then pull out the paper tray.
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.
Load one or more envelopes into the middle of the tray, with the flaps on the left and facing up.
Slide the paper width guides in until they rest against the edges of the envelopes.
Slide the tray back in until it stops, and then pull open and lift the paper tray extender.
