HP Compaq 6200 Pro Small Form Factor PC - Removing and Replacing the Power Supply

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the power supply for the HP Compaq 6200 Pro Small Form Factor PC.
Minimum skill level
The End-User must possess extensive product-specific knowledge and technical skill on how to service the system, and be familiar with the operating system.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the power supply that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

  note:

The chassis and internal components of this computer are similar to the HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor (SFF) Business PC and the HP Z210 Small Form Factor (SFF) Workstation. Removal and replacement procedures are the same. The above mentioned video link shows removal and replacement procedures for HP Z210 SFF Workstation.
Power supply removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Pull up and hold the access panel release latch.
  3. Rotate the panel up and lift it away from the chassis.
  4. Rotate the drive cage to the up position.
  5. Rotate the power supply to the up position.
  6. Disconnect the power cables from the system board, noting their location for reinstallation.
  7. Rotate the power supply slightly inward and then pull forward to move the guide pins out of the curved channels in the mounting bracket into the vertical channels.
  8. Lift the power supply up and out of the mounting bracket.
Power supply replacement
  1. Position the power supply with the guide pins over the channels in the mounting bracket.
  2. Slide the power supply down and then back toward the rear of the chassis until the guide pins enter the curved channel.
  3. Connect the power cables to the system board.
  4. Rotate the power supply to the down position.
  5. Rotate the drive cage to the down position.
  6. Slide the lip on the front end of the access panel under the lip on the front chassis guide rail.
  7. Lower the back end of the panel until it contacts the chassis.
  8. Press down on the access panel until it locks into place.
