Compaq 615 Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing Speaker
Introduction

The End-User should possess product-specific knowledge and technical skill on how to service the system, and have familiarity with the operating system.
Tools required
Small, Phillips-head (P00 and P1) screwdrivers
Parts required
note:Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the speaker that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP.

If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Modified Spare number, the Modified Spare must be ordered as the replacement part. Remove the battery. Click here for instructions on how to remove battery.

Remove the keyboard. Click here for instructions on how to remove keyboard.

Remove the switch cover. Click here for instructions on how to remove switch cover.

Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.

Remove the tape that secures the speaker cable to the top cover.

Remove the speaker cable from its routing tabs on the top cover.

Remove the two 3 mm P00 Phillips-head screws that secure the speaker to the top cover.

Lift and remove the speaker.
Speaker replacement

Place the speaker into position on the base enclosure.

Replace the two 3 mm P00 Phillips-head screws that secure the speaker to the top cover.

Route the speaker cable through the two routing tabs on the top cover.

Replace the tape that secures the speaker cable to the top cover.

Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
