Troubleshooting tips

Activating GPS

The first time you activate the GPS, the GPS signal will take a little time to find because this feature is being used for the first time.

Improving satellite signal

  • To improve the satellite signal to your Compaq AirLife 100, move outdoors and start the GPS navigation software.
  • Place the device where there is a clear view of the sky or on the dashboard of a vehicle that does not have thermal glass windshields or windows.
  • A direct line of sight is required between the device and the GPS satellites to access information from the satellites.

Determining successful route calculation

When requesting a route calculation on your Compaq AirLife 100, the program calls an alert function after it calculates the route. Currently, this alert function is unable to distinguish between a successful and an unsuccessful route calculation. Consequently, you may receive an incorrect audio notification that a route has been calculated and an error message Cannot find the route is displayed.
Check the message that is displayed on the device screen to determine if the route is calculated successfully on your device.

Re-registering NDrive after device replacement

If the Compaq AirLife 100 device has been replaced, users may need to re-register the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number of that device with the NDrive application registration server to access and download the purchased maps or features.
note:
When the Compaq AirLife 100 is sent for repair, the IMEI number of the device changes only in some instances.
For more information on the re-registration process and registration issues, visit the following Web site: http://www.ndriveweb.com/faqs/faq-index/ .

In addition, users need to request for a license transfer and send the following information to airlife@ndrive.com :
  1. The IMEI number of the replacement device received following the repair.
  2. Any one of the following:
    • IMEI number of the old device that was sent for repair initially.
    • E-mail address of the users that is used to purchase the maps or features.
After NDrive confirms the license transfer, users can download the purchased maps or features again.
note:
To download the purchased maps or features, the device must have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

Downloading updated maps for NDrive

The Compaq AirLife 100 devices sold in Mexico, Argentina, and Chile may include expired pre-installed maps for the NDrive application. A message "The XXXXXX.map map has expired." is displayed.
This issue may occur due to the older map versions that were installed on the device. Updates for maps are now available.
