Troubleshooting tips
Checking the battery status
If you have problems turning on the device or charging your battery, perform the following checks:
  • Make sure that the battery is fully charged. If the LED on your device is blinking red, it indicates that the battery has reached a critically low battery level. For best results, charge the battery fully. The solid green LED display indicates full battery charge.
  • Make sure that the battery is correctly installed. Make sure that the connectors on the battery are aligned with the housing pins in the battery compartment.
  • Make sure that the battery connectors and housing pins are not damaged or dirty. If the battery connectors appear to be soiled or the housing pins appear bent or damaged, contact your dealer to get your unit repaired.
  • Try charging your battery using the AC adapter.
  • Make sure that your device is correctly connected to AC power. Inspect the AC power connector port on the device to make sure that the cable is securely inserted. Similarly inspect the power connector on the AC adapter to ensure that the cable is securely inserted. Connect the adapter to the AC power to ensure that it can charge.
  • Check the LED indicator on your device. If the battery is low and the device is being charged the LED display is solid amber.
  note:
For more information, follow the instructions for setting up your device in the Quick Start Guide that came with your device.
Using an SD card
  • You can format and erase the internal memory of an SD card.
  • Device may consume an extra current of +15 mA while the SD card is kept in idle mode. Removing the SD card from your device while you are not accessing it for a prolonged period of time will help reduce power consumption. While removing the SD card from your device, make sure that no running applications on the device are accessing the files located on the SD card.
Inserting a Movistar SIM card
While inserting a Movistar SIM card in a Compaq AirLife 100 device purchased in Mexico, the following messages may be displayed:
  • An incorrect SIM card has been inserted
  • Type a SIM card unlock code
This is because a firmware upgrade is needed for the modems installed in the Compaq AirLife 100 devices in Mexico.
To use a Movistar SIM card on your device, perform a firmware upgrade on the device using a Wi-Fi connection.
  note:
While performing a system update, make sure that the device battery status is approximately 50% and the device is connected to an AC power supply.
  note:
Make sure a backup of all the downloads, documents, media files, and applications stored on the device is created prior to restarting the device.
  1. Remove the Movistar SIM card from the device, and then turn on the device.
  2. After the initial configuration screen is displayed, touch Enter.
  3. Skip the initial configuration steps on the device, and then configure the Wi-Fi connection.
