HP Photosmart A620 Series Printers - 'Clear Paper Jam, Then Press OK' Message Displays on the Touch Screen

Issue

A 'Clear paper jam, then press OK' message displays on the printer touch screen when printing.

Solution

Follow the instructions below to remove jammed paper from the printer.

Step one: Check for and remove any loose paper from the front of the printer

  1. Remove all loose paper from the paper input tray.
  2. If the paper is visible part way through the front of the product, gently pull the paper to remove it out.

Step two: Clear the jam from the back of printer

If the paper jam is not accessible from the In tray, follow the instructions below to clear the paper from the back of the printer.
  1. Remove the paper from the input tray.
  2. Then gently pull down on the input tray until pops open more fully.
    note:
Do not attempt to extend it to a full horizontal position. Doing so could damage the printer.
  3. Gently pull the jammed paper to remove it from the back of the printer.
  4. Lift the input tray up until it snaps back into paper-loading position.
    note:
If you cannot grasp the edge of the jammed paper to remove it, turn the printer off, then on. The printer checks for paper in the paper path and will automatically eject the jammed paper.
  5. Touch OK to continue.

Step three: Reload and test the printer

Once you have removed the jammed paper, verify that the printer is still functioning properly.
Follow the instructions below to print a test page:
  1. Load paper in the input tray. Use plain paper or index cards to conserve photo paper.
  2. Touch the Menu icon on the quick touch frame.
  3. Touch Tools.
  4. Touch Test & Sample Pages.
  5. Touch Print Test Page. The test page prints.
