HP LC3260N LCD TV - Using the Onscreen Display (LC3260N)

This document pertains to the HP LC3260N 32-Inch LCD TV.
This document explains how to open and navigate the onscreen display (OSD) menus, the arrangement of the menus and menu options, and steps to edit channels for the channels list.

Opening and navigating the OSD menus

Use the buttons on the remote control to open and navigate the OSD menus.

Press Source to open the input sources list. Press Source as needed to select the input source.
Press Menu to open the onscreen display (OSD). Press Menu again to exit the menus and return to your TV display.
Press an Arrow button to move up, right, down, or left within the menu, to highlight an item or adjust an item.
Press OK to select the highlighted item in the menu.
Press Back to move up one item or menu level.
  1. Select the input source; the OSD menus and options you see depend on the current input source.
    Press Source to open the input sources list. Press Source as needed to select the input source.
  2. Press Menu to open the OSD. The available menus appear as a list.
  3. Press an Arrow button to move to the menu you want, highlighting it. Press OK to move into the menu.
  4. Press an Arrow button to move within the menu and highlight an option, and then press OK to move into the option.
  5. Continue using the Arrow buttons to highlight and adjust an item and the OK button to enter the change.
    • You can press the Back button to move up one item or menu level.
  6. When you are finished, press the Menu button to close the menu.

Menus and options

note:
Reset the TV to return all menu settings to the default values, including the Locks menu password (for parental control). To reset the TV: Press and hold down the -Vol (volume down) button on the top of the TV, point the remote control at the TV, and press the 0 (zero) button for 1 second. Pressing this combination of buttons clears the password and all other settings to the default values.
The menus and options are listed as follows:

Picture menu

The Picture menu controls the look of the image on the screen for the selected input.

Explanations
AV Mode
Adjusts to preset values (Sports, Standard, or Movie) or to Memory for individual adjustments.
Brightness
Adjusts image brightness.
Contrast
Adjusts image contrast.
Color
Adjusts image color intensity.
Tint
Adjusts image tones: Decrease to make tones more purple, or increase to make tones more green.
Sharpness
Adjusts image sharpness.
Blue Screen
Turns on or off display of a blue screen as the image when there is no video signal.
Color Temperature
Selects color temperature settings: Cool (bluish), Medium (neutral), or Warm (reddish).
Reset
Returns all Picture menu options to default values.

Audio menu

Audio menu
Explanations
MTS
Selects the Multi-channel Television Sound mode: Stereo, SAP (second audio program), or Mono.
Bass
Adjusts the bass level of the audio.
Treble
Adjusts the treble level of the audio.
Balance
Adjusts emphasis of the audio to left or right speaker.
Speakers
Turns off the display speakers when using an external sound system.
WOW
Selects options for emulated surround sound from the display speakers:
  • SRS 3D Stereo for 3D elements to the audio
  • Focus for clarity improvement and elevation to the audio
  • TruBass for bass enhancement to the audio
HDMI
Selects the audio signal type at Input 5 (HDMI 2) connector. Set this option to DVI so the TV uses audio from the Input 5 audio connectors.
Audio Language
Selects the language for digital signal channels that include two or more audio languages.
Digital Output
Selects the mode for the signal provided on the coaxial Digital Audio Output connector: PCM or Digital Dolby. To hear analog sound from an analog source on your digital audio system, you must connect the Audio Out left and right connectors on the TV to your sound system.
Reset
Returns all Audio menu options to default values.

Setup menu

Explanations
Language
Selects the language for the OSD menus.
Clock Set
Sets the TV time.
Air/Cable
Selects the type of signal source at the Ant/Cable connector. Determines what frequencies are searched for channel signals during an automatic scan (Auto Ch Memory).
Auto Ch Memory
Scans for channels, adding them to the channel listing.
Add/Delete
Add or delete channels from the channel list. A deleted channel does not display when using the channel buttons.
Closed Caption
Selects the closed caption service.
CC Advanced
Selects closed caption options for digital channels.
View Mode
Selects an Aspect view mode for the input source.
Picture Scroll
Adjusts the vertical position of the image on the screen when the selected Aspect is S.Stretch or Zoom.
Cinema Mode
Selects Film or Video. Select Film when you are viewing a DVD player connected through a component connection (Input 3 or Input 4).
Aspect
When set to On the TV automatically selects the view mode picture size according to the input signal aspect ratio.
Signal Meter
Displays the strength of the air digital channel you are viewing, so that you can adjust your antenna to obtain the maximum signal strength.
Back Lighting
Selects the amount of back lighting for the screen.

Ch Label
Selects the labels for channels.
Video Label
Selects the labels for video source names.

Lock menu

Lock menu
Explanations
V-Chip Set
Enables the V-Chip (parental controls).
TV Rating (TV Guidelines
Selects TV ratings by age-based guidelines and content values.
Movie Rating (MPAA)
Selects movie ratings by the Motion Picture Association of America.
Canadian English Ratings
Selects English TV ratings by age-based content values from the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) policy on violence in television programming.
Canadian French Ratings
Selects French TV ratings by age-based content values from the CRTC policy on violence in television programming.
Password
Selects the password for parental control.

Editing channels for the channel list

In the Add/Delete option of the Setup menu, you can add or delete channels from the channel list. The channel list shows all channels found during an automatic scan (Auto Ch Memory). Only channels in the channel list display when using the channel buttons. A deleted channel does not display when using the channel buttons.
  1. Select the input source; the OSD menus and options you see depend on the current input source.
    Press Source to open the input sources list. Press Source as needed to select the TV as the input source.
  2. Press Menu to open the OSD. The available menus appear as a list.
  3. Press an Arrow button to move to the Setup menu, highlighting it. Press OK to move into the menu.
  4. Press an Arrow button to move to the Add/Delete option, highlighting it, and press the Right Arrow button.
    To remove all channels from the channel memory, select Clear All and press the Right Arrow button.
  5. Select Add/Delete, and press the Right Arrow button. The channel list is now selectable.
  6. Press an Arrow button to select the channel you want to skip.
  7. Press an Arrow button to select Delete for the channel.
    To include a channel in the list, select Add for the channel.
  8. Press Menu to close the menu.
