HP Designjet Printers - Printing Incorrect Colors or Shades from AutoCAD 2000 or 2002

Introduction

AutoCAD drawings may fail to print correctly because of an incorrect pen assignment (plot style table) selection within AutoCAD. A pre-saved PC3 AutoCAD driver configuration may also specify settings that are incorrect for the file that is being printed. Follow the steps below to correctly configure AutoCAD.
note:
The steps below apply to all versions of AutoCAD that are based on the AutoCAD 2000 menu system (AutoCAD 2000, 2002), but may also occur in AutoCAD versions 2004, 2005, and 98LT.
  1. Open AutoCAD and the file you are working on.
  2. Click File, and then select Page Setup.
  3. Select the Plot Device tab.
  4. Use the drop down menu to select the HP Designjet driver that is worded exactly the same as the driver icon that appears in the Windows Printers folder.
    note:
Do not select any drivers ending in ".pc3", as these are pre-saved driver configuration files, and they may specify settings that are inappropriate for the file you are attempting to print.
  5. Still on the Plot Device tab, ensure that ACAD.CTB is selected under the Plot Style Tables drop-down menu.
    note:
ACAD.CTB is the default pen layout in AutoCAD, and selecting this option will help to eliminate the possibility of incorrect pen settings.
  6. Select the Layout Settings tab and make the appropriate selections for page size and layout options.
  7. Still on the Layout Settings tab, please ensure that the Extents option is selected under the Plot Area subheading.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Re-print the file.
