Release date : 10-Aug-2017

Last updated : 11-Aug-2017

DESCRIPTION
Customers with Windows 10, and Winmagic SecureDoc software may find they can not boot to their system if they reimage the machine, or go into F10 and make some changes if they configure FilterbootOrder on their Winmagic profile.
After reimaging the computer, it fails to boot and displays a message stating that it could not find the operating system.
This occurs on newer computers if WinMagic SecureDoc was installed.

RESOLUTION
HP does not recommend configuring newer models with Filter Boot Order. If you require this then please be aware of the resolution below:
EFI varaibles are stored in NVRAM of the ROM chip. These variables must be deleted before the computer can boot and before WinMagic SES can be installed again.
  1. Boot to F10 Setup and ensure the SecureBoot option is disabled.
  2. Boot to an EFI shell USB drive.
  3. Once in the EFI shell, execute the following command:
    dmpstore filterbootorder
  4. If it displays a value, delete the value using the following command:
    dmpstore -d filterbootorder
  5. Execute command: dmpstore filterbootorder again to confirm that the values have been deleted.
  6. Shut down the computer.
  7. Restart the computer; it should boot successfully.
