HP Z Workstation series December 2016 Software Refresh (Windows 7)

DETAILS OF CHANGE
Effective December 4, 2016, HP is changing the software configuration and system BIOS firmware on HP Z workstations that come with Windows 7. The new software addition and updates are being made available for download from HP’s support Web site for owners of existing Z440, Z640, Z840, Z238, Z240 Tower, Z240 Small Form Factor, and HP Z1 G3 series workstations.
HP Z238 and Z240 series workstations BIOS 1.34 has the following enhancements added:
  • Improves security of UEFI code and variables. HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel reference code to v3.9.0.1.
  • Adds support for HP-Repsetup and HP-Flash Linux tools.
  • Adds ability to mask NVMe SMART threshold errors via F10 and WMI.
  • Adds F10 Setup and WMI option to eliminate requirement to enter DriveLock password on restart.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot after losing AC power unexpectedly in certain situations.
  • Fixes an issue where 3rd Party Option ROM Management screen (F3) would not display properly.
  • Fixes an issue where certain SSD devices were not reported when using UEFI Diagnostics.
HP Z1 G3 series workstations BIOS 1.10 has the following enhancements added:
  • Improves security of UEFI code and variables. HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel reference code to v3.9.0.1.

HP Z440, Z640, and Z840 series workstations BIOS 2.29 has the following enhancements added:
  • Improves security of UEFI code and variables.
  • Adds ability to mask NVMe SMART threshold errors via F10 and WMI.
  • Adds enhanced error handling features in WMI.
  • Changes CPU HWPM options in WMI from Disable/Enable to Disable/Autonomous to match F10.
  • Fixes an issue where Isoc Mode could not be disabled via WMI for single processor systems.
  • Fixes an issue where several CPU power management settings would not be restored correctly after resetting factory defaults in F10.
  • Fixes an issue where POST Delay options would not show up in the file generated using Replicated Setup from F10.

  • Samsung NVMe Storage Driver version 2.4.7.0 or later
REASON FOR CHANGE
  • AMD Windows Unified Graphics Driver: Enables new AMD Radeon Pro Graphics Cards. Adds support for Next-Generation APIs including DirectX® 12 and Vulkan™ and the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
  • HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI: Fixes issue where invalid asset tag values would result in missing system information.
  • HP Velocity: Added to Windows 7 images.
  • Intel Windows Graphic Driver: Resolves a potential BSOD when using Display Port to HDMI.
  • NVIDIA Quadro Professional Driver: Includes various security fixes.
  • Samsung NVMe Storage Driver: Resolves a potential BSOD under high memory configurations.
