HP ScanJet Pro Scanner - Unexpected output when scanning non-English characters in an OCR file using an HP Scan software

The scanned output might have distorted characters when the file is saved as an OCR file format using an HP Scan software on any of the following scanners:
  • HP ScanJet Pro 2000 s1 Sheet-feed Scanner
  • HP ScanJet Pro 2500 f1 Flatbed Scanner
  • HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s3 Sheet-feed Scanner
  • HP ScanJet Pro 3500 f1 Flatbed Scanner
  • HP ScanJet Pro 4500 fn1 Network Scanner

This issue occurs when the language in the optical character recognition (OCR) feature is set to English, the default setting in an HP Scan software. The OCR feature does not automatically recognize non-English characters.

Before scanning a document with non-English characters, follow these steps to select the language for an OCR feature in an HP Scan software:
  1. Open the HP Scan software.
  2. On the Scan Shortcuts, select Save as Editable Text (OCR), and then click More located on the upper-right corner of the Scan Shortcut Settings to change the settings.
