HP PCs - How to Solve the Problem of Converting GPT to MBR

The error message Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style displays.

The computer cannot boot from GPT unless the system board supports the EFI.
Only Windows 7 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit on UEFI based systems support GPT.
Select one of the options below to install Windows OS or to concert the hard disk drive to MBR and follow the steps for that section.

Command prompt

Follow these steps if the Windows cannot be installed message displays while installing Windows OS and get this error message or if the customer wants to concert the hard disk drive to MBR through the Command prompt.
  1. Insert the installation DVD or CD, and then turn on the computer.
  2. Click Install but do not follow through.
  3. Press Shift + F10, and then click Open command window here.
    The command prompt opens.

  4. In the command prompt, type diskpart, and then press Enter.
  5. Type list disk, and then select the disk that you want to convert.
  6. Type select disk 0, replace 0 with the disk number you want to convert.

  7. Type convert mbr, and then type quit.
  8. Continue with the installation.

Deleting partitions

Follow these steps to delete all partitions drive options.
  1. Insert the installation DVD or CD, and then turn on the computer.
  2. Continue until the Install Windows screen displays.
  3. Click Drive options.

  4. Select a partition, and then click Delete. Do this for all listed partitions.
    note:
    You must type Enter after every command.

  5. Click New to create a new partition.

  6. Continue with the installation.
