HP ProBook 4545s Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Optical Drive

This document pertains only to HP ProBook 4545s Notebook PC with the following case design:
Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the optical drive for HP ProBook 4545s Notebook PC.
Tools required
  • Phillips-head P1 screwdriver
  • Flat-bladed screwdriver
Minimum skill level
The end user requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The end user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the optical drive that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

Remove the battery.

Remove the service door.

Remove the 6-mm P1 Phillips-head screw next to the optical disc icon.

Use a small, flat-bladed tool to push out on the metal tab on the rear of the optical drive to partially eject the optical drive from the base enclosure.
5
Grasp the optical drive bezel and pull the optical drive out of the optical drive bay.

Insert the optical drive into the optical drive bay until the connector is fully seated.

Replace the 6-mm P1 Phillips-head screw to secure the optical drive to the base enclosure.

Replace the service door.
