HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525 Printer Series - Printer hangs or displays 'Calibrating' message and will not print

Issue

When the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525 Printer wakes from sleep mode, it hangs and/or displays Calibrating on the control panel and it will not print.
note:
This issue is intermittent and will not happen every time the printer wakes from sleep mode.

Cause

The printer performs a calibration when it wakes from sleep mode that disrupts the printing process.

Solution

Upgrade the firmware. To upgrade the firmware, follow these steps:
  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
  2. Download the firmware.
    1. Go to www.hp.com/go/cljcp5525_firmware, locate the Firmware section, identify the latest firmware version (2131305_192066 or later), and then click Download.
      note:
For detailed firmware version information, click the firmware title or description to view Fixes, Improvements, and/or the ReadMe file.
    2. In the File Download window, click Save, browse to the location on your computer where you want to save the firmware, and then click Save and wait while the firmware downloads to your computer.
  3. Double-click the saved .zip file to open it.
    note:
The firmware file will be in the following file format "xxxxxxx.bdl" where "xxx" indicates the firmware file name and the ".bdl" is the file extension.
  4. In the .zip folder, double-click the Readme document to open it.
  5. Ctrl+click on the Installation Instructions or scroll down the page to locate the installation instructions section.
  6. Follow the instructions in the ReadMe file to print a configuration page and then install the upgrade using one of the following methods:
    • Embedded Web Server (EWS)
    • Pre-boot walk-up (USB)
    • Standard walk-up (USB)
    • WebJet Admin 10.2 SR4 or newer
  7. Print a Configuration page to make sure that the new firmware is installed.

Workaround

To temporarily resolve the issue without updating the firmware, power cycle the printer. Turn it off and then on.
