DESCRIPTION
After successfully logging into the system as Administrator, HP Easy Tools version 2.1 does not allow users to change to a new password if the current password is blank.
Symptoms:
Attempts to change the password are rejected if the existing administrator password is blank.

RESOLUTION
The administrator password cannot be changed via Easy Tools. Any changes to the password must be done via the "Control Panel" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "User Manager" applet.

  1. Select "Users" from the "Local Users and Groups (Local)" list.
  2. Select the Administrator entry for the list displayed in the right of the pane.
  3. Select the Action option from the menu bar followed by "Set Password...".
  4. At this point a warning dialogue should appear, click "Proceed" to enter the "Set Password for Administrator" dialogue.
  5. Enter the new password in the associated field and provide a confirmation. Click "OK".
  6. A confirmation popup should then appear that the new password has been set. Click "OK.
  7. Close the remaining Control Panel Applets.
