-
Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
caution:
Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.note:
This computer uses PC2-5300 (DDR2 667 and 800) DIMMs. There are four DIMM sockets on the system board, with two sockets per channel. The sockets are labeled XMM1, XMM2, XMM3, and XMM4. Sockets XMM1 and XMM2 operate in memory channel A. Sockets XMM3 and XMM4 operate in memory channel B.DIMMs do not have to be installed in pairs although installation of pairs (an equal DIMM for each channel) provides the best performance. The BIOS will detect the DIMM population and set the system accordingly. If you are replacing a memory module with an identical module (a DIMM of the same type and size), put the new module in the same socket as the old one. -
Remove the Cover. Click here for instructions on how to remove the cover.
-
Remove the PCI card. Click here for instructions on how to remove the PCI card.
-
Push down and out on the memory socket latches to release the memory module.
-
Pull the memory module up and out of the socket.
Memory replacement
