HP LaserJet Pro 3001-3008 printers - 'Paper Jam' error

During a print job, the Paper light blinks, and a Paper Jam message might display on the printer software or HP Smart app. If paper becomes jammed inside the printer, look inside all paper paths and remove any jammed paper or foreign objects found.

Note:

Paper jams can be real or false. The printer might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The following steps apply to both real and false paper jams.

Perform the following tasks in the order given.

Possible jam locations

Paper jams can occur in multiple areas of the printer.

Prevent paper feed issues from happening again

Follow these tips to help prevent paper jams, misfeeds, and no feeds.

  • Only use paper that is compatible with your printer. Do not use paper that is too thick or too thin.

  • When adding paper to the input tray, adjust the paper guides so they rest against the edge of the paper stack.

  • Whenever you change the paper size or type in the tray, be sure to change the paper setting on the print menu of the software application you are printing from.

  • Avoid using the printer in dusty or dirty environments.

Service the printer

Service or replace your HP product if the issue persists after completing all the preceding steps.

Go to Contact HP Customer Support to schedule a product repair or replacement. If you are in Asia Pacific, you will be directed to a local service center in your area.

To confirm your warranty status, go to HP Product Warranty Check. Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty products.
